i work in a school. GCSE's are hard. You, i doubt, could not write your name on the paper let alone complete one. If they are so easy how come there are so many U's around.
i do hope you have not kids or grandchildren, who would want a figure like you to look up to and seek encourgement.

In that case, [bold]sue[/bold] with a small 's', why do I have such a successful blog?
If [bold]Your Lord[/bold] was the examiner, he would be forced to deduct points from your overall score due to your awful command of the English language.

You have a successful blog because you sit on it all day. We work and type emails at haste. Most other people work, manage homes and have a life. Not sit on a pc all day typing for a local rag. get a life.

My advice to you is to keep revising for your exams, or at least for your multiple choice questions.

YOUR LORD; what a pretentious name!
You obviously have a greater grasp of the english language than most people these days, however using it to belittle others takes away from the, "all knowing" persona you obviously like to play online and portrays a more petty, childish one. Moreover spending your time making smartass comments on a local newspapers website in the first place further proves the point.

here is an example of decent kids working hard and trying to make something of their lives and not a single word of encouragement or praise. get over trying to complain that exams are not as hard as they used to be, just see a bunch of kids doing their best and not out on the streets dealing drugs or robbing people. these are the kids who deserve our attention. and erastus...you are just an irrelevant, sad, sad man and i wish you would shut up. nobody cares what you think (if you think at all) all your comments are about getting attention for yourself. grow up!

Whilst everyone seems to be sniping at each other no one seems to admit that the education system in this country is getting easier and easier.
So, children are leaving school thinking they are something special with their seven A* grades, going to university and either failing miserably or coming out of a socially acceptable course - “an ology” – and then complaining that they have no job!
Is it surprising? They are not encouraged to compete and there cannot be the concept of a winner because the looser might feel bad. Even at the interview for a “McJob” someone must fail. So, why must we all sit back and allow children to think that current examination levels come anywhere near the high standards of yester year ?
It’s stupid to give young people the misconception that they are educated to a standard that is any use whatsoever in society. We should manage their perceptions correctly and teach them the value of getting the customer to order fries with their meal.

Which remark are you refering to ?
The McJob one, the lack of encouraged competition or the lowering of standards ?

Sue, how would you know that GCSEs are hard? I take it from your level of literacy that you are a teaching assistant or dinner lady. Just because you are not capable of the work required to pass a GCSE doesn't mean that they are necessarily difficult.
[quote]If they are so easy how come there are so many U's around.[/quote]
There have always been thick kids, they didn't used to bother taking exams at all and left school as soon as they could. Nowadays children are encouraged to stay in education even when it will do them no good whatsoever.
I do believe that children should be encouraged but I am not happy that my level of education is being devalued by the constant simplification of the exam system.

You are managing to devalue yourself by using the term "thick". Tell a child they are thick and they'll believe it!!!!!

SM, don't quite follow your logic. How am I devaluing myself?
We live in a society full of people with differing levels of ability in all aspects of life. You can't make a child more intelligent just by telling them that they can do better. Some children just aren't capable of any better and it isn't their fault. Just because a child is not as intelligent as another doesn't mean that they can't be successful at something. My point was that there is little point in pushing the not so clever (is that better?) into taking exams. Firstly it is a waste of money and secondly it doesn't make that child feel very good about themself when they get a U grade.

I agree. The point i was trying to make is that too many people are quick to dumb down kids because of where they live, one parent familiies, ability on entering school etc. Too many people think that some children don't stand a chance and are therefore not given one!!!! For a child to believe in themself others need to belive in them.At the end of the day it is about progress being made, whatever it is. And an ability to have valuable life skills.

Oops, sorry Sue, did I hit a nerve? I have every right to comment on your literacy skills if I don't feel that they are of a very good standard. You are putting your comments out in the public domain for all to see. If you are too busy/lazy to write correctly then you can expect to be criticised. I don't see how it can take any longer to type correctly than it does to make lots of mistakes. You are not setting a very good example to your small son (or any other child that reads this article) by saying that it is acceptable to post a comment littered with mistakes because you are too busy. You should have some pride in how you are perceived by other people.
With regard to your last comment, I now assume you don't have a man about the house to help you with your chores. So, seeing as you can make sweeping generalisations I can do the same. I bet you are a single mother and dinner lady who is very bitter and has a problem with the male sex.

I have always tried not to give anything away about my personal life when I post comments on this site as I don't think it is anybodies business. However, for the first time, I am prepared to give away a small snippet of information if only to make you look more stupid than you already do. I am not a man! Does that make my comments any easier to accept or not?
I only hope that you are not a teacher or a teaching assistant. I don't see how you can encourage children to do better when your own standards are so low. As I said before there is no excuse for tardiness. It is no wonder that children are leaving school with low levels of literacy if they are being helped by the likes of you.

Before I submitted my post I did actually look into this. I agree that there should be an apostrophe followed by an s because I was referring to anybody possessing business. I also wanted to use the plural of anybody which I think you will find is anybodies. I also think you will find that you cannot spell exclamation.
