MILLWALL chief Kenny Jackett has confirmed Jermaine Easter will be staying at The Den despite Sunday's red card at Swindon.

Easter joined the Lions on a one-month loan deal from Plymouth late last week and was drafted straight into the side for the game at the County Ground.

It was certainly a debut to remember for the striker as he scored the opener in Millwall's 2-1 victory and was then dismissed in injury time following a clash with Jack Smith.

Easter begins his three match suspension immediately and will miss Saturday's home game against the MK Dons as well as the trip to Tranmere and Den meeting with Leeds on October 18.

His sudden unavailability had prompted speculation elsewhere Jackett may send the player back to Devon immediately, but the manager revealed he would stick to the original deal and keep Easter on board.

Jackett said: "Jermaine will be available now for Colchester, Scunthorpe and Hereford before his month is up so I am definitely going to keep him here.

"We are committed to the month anyway but instead of the seven we thought he would be available for, it is now only going to be for four."

Jackett discovered today he had been named as the League One manager of the month after Millwall's stunning September form propelled them into the play-off zone on the back of five consecutive wins.

He said: "I'm really pleased. The staff are the ones who deserve it because the club is only as good as their staff.

"In football the focus is often on the manager and players, but your staff are the ones who organise and drive a club on.

"The pinnacle of the achievement if you like is the manager, but it shows how hard the staff have worked with it being early in the campaign.

"From day one of pre-season we've got ourselves off to a good start and that is testament to the staff here."

Football superstition holds that the recipient of the manager of the month award usually goes on to see his side immediately embark on a poor run of results, but it certainly isn't a theory the Lions boss subscribes to.

He explained: "People say there is a curse with the manager of the month award, but the actual stats are not like that.

"It isn't something I would be particularly concerned with anyway because I'm just focusing on the next game.

"While I'm delighted with the way September went, I'm looking between now and November 1.

"We have six games in that period and four of those are away from home, so it is going to be a hard month ahead."

Millwall will attempt to make it six straight wins this Saturday when they entertain MK Dons at The Den.

Jackett is looking forward to a close encounter but believes his side will get another positive result if they show the consistency they have done in the last month.

He said: "MK Dons are a good side. I think they will be slightly different because they have some ball playing ability and some pace in their side.

"No game is easy but it is about us keeping and maintaining the standards we have set.

"They have been high and we have to do it all over again and regroup ourselves because as successful as September has been, it is October we are looking forward to."

He added: "We've done ok at The Den this season and made people believe we can have a go at teams at home and get a win, which is a really good thing from my point of view.

"The number of fans coming has gone up a notch. That only comes with good performances on the pitch with the hope and expectation we might get results on a consistent basis.

"Millwall supporters played a big part in my coming to the club because I knew the passion was there should we be successful and we are starting to see a touch of it now."

Jackett also singled out winger Dave Martin for his recent displays and added the capture of Karl Moore on loan from Manchester City could be the key factor in Martin's impressive form.

He said: "Karl has been a substitute of late.

"I like him and think he has very good potential for a young player, but Dave Martin has done very well and maybe Moore's arrival has spurred him."
