TONY Burman is hopeful a compensation package can be reached with Bromley over Jay May's switch to the Lillywhites before the matter reaches a tribunal.
May had been the subject of interest from several Football League sides but finally decided on a move to Blue Square South neighbours Bromley.
Although the striker was perfectly free to make the short trip to Hayes Lane, Dartford are still entitled to compensation because of his age and the fact they nurtured his talent.
Manager Burman admitted there is still a big gap between what the two clubs believe the compensation should be at the moment, but is confident a deal can be struck.
He said: "There is a difference of opinion between us as things stand now, but both parties are doing all they can to agree something before it goes to a tribunal.
"Relations between Dartford and Bromley are very good and always have been, so there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to sort something out."

Burman added: "We are obviously disappointed to lose Jay because it breaks up the excellent partnership he built up with Brendon Cass over the past three years.
"He wanted to play at a higher level and he has got his wish.
"We had a lot of interest in Jay, even when we were playing in the Ryman South.
"Last year he spent a week at Dagenham & Redbridge as well as some time with Yeovil, so I'm slightly surprised he has decided to join a team only one division above us."
Despite the setback of May's departure and the exit of Junior Kadi, Burman is refusing to rush out and find an immediate replacement.
He explained: "We've lost some players but have also made quite a few signings as well this summer and go into pre-season on Monday with three good strikers.
"Pre-season lasts for six weeks before our first league game on August 16 and a lot can happen.
"If we feel we need to strengthen in any area between now and then we will do it, but there is no rush to do so at the moment."
Charlton and Crystal Palace are both heading to Princes Park later this month and Burman is looking forward already to two exciting and glamorous fixtures.
The Addicks are first up for what will be an all ticket game on July 15, with Neil Warnock's Eagles arriving in town three days later.
Burman said: "We are delighted to have the two biggest sides in this area agree to play us.
"They will be two tough games and sometimes playing 45 minutes against sides of their standard is like playing a full 90 because they keep the ball so well.
"It is a great experience for our players and they learnt a lot from the games against Palace and Spurs last year. Everyone is really looking forward to it."
Tickets for the Charlton game are on general sale at the club and can be purchased in person between 9am and 5pm on weekdays and 10am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Dartford have already sold 700 tickets, which are priced £10 for adults, £5 for over-60s and supporters aged between 14 and 17 and £1 for youngsters aged under 14.
The pricing structure is the same for the Eagles clash, although fans should note tickets for the Palace match will be on sale at the turnstiles on the evening of the game.
